Teacher Responsibilities

• Establish a culture of high expectations for all students

• Develop and implement inquiry curriculum and instructional practices consistent with established STEM Charter Academy instructional guidelines and Core Standards

• Actively engage all students in their learning

• Create productive and positive relationships with students and their families

• Be a master of classroom management

• Assess students’ learning regularly in accordance with school policy and established practices, examine student data, and refine instructional and classroom practices as needed

• Provide students and their families with regular and timely information on classroom activities and students’ progress

• Actively participate in professional development.

• Collaborate with other STEM Charter Academy teachers to improve own and others’ instructional practices; share best practices

• Track critical student information and maintain accurate student records

• Demonstrate commitment to, and support of, STEM Charter Academy’s mission, vision, value statements,  practices, policies and procedures, operation instructions, confidentiality standards, and code of character

• Adhere to Idaho State Code of Ethics

Qualifications - Candidates must:

• Be certified to teach in public schools, either in Idaho or in another state with a willingness to transfer certification to Idaho

• Meet or be willing to meet HQT requirements

• Maintain an unyielding commitment to students’ learning: No limits, no excuses

• Be determined to reflect on and improve instructional practice

• Thrive in an intellectually challenging and rewarding charter school environment

• Know how to manage data

• Be willing to sponsor and attend student activities outside of the classroom

• Possess multiple endorsements (preferred)
