Structural Engineering

Structural Engineering incorporates design, engineering, and Math skills as teams use critical thinking to test and analyze various structures they have constructed based on precise parameters. Teams function like real-world companies, engaging their collaboration and communication skills

 

Invent Idaho

Invent Idaho is the premier student invention competition in the Northwest, inspiring over 2000 young inventors annually for over 25 years.  Students in grades 1-12 identify problems for which they design invention solutions, and build prototypes, which they test and redesign.  Winners in three state Regional events enter the culminating Invent Idaho State Finals with selected young inventors advancing to the National Invention Convention and Entrepreneurship Expo.

 

FIRST LEGO League

FIRST LEGO League challenges students to develop 21st Century skills, such as Collaboration, Creativity, and Communication, as they design and program Lego Mindstorms robots and create unique solutions to the annual theme.  Over 22,000 FLL teams compete worldwide in the robot game, research project, and engineering design as they develop gracious professionalism skills.

 

CubeSat

Project DaVinci is the only high school team selected to launch a CubeSat in conjunction with NASA in the 2017 round.  With a December 2018, launch date, the Project DaVinci satellite will “Light Up Minds Around the World” as schools become Space Ambassadors and track this satellite.  The Project DaVinci satellite is will conduct one of the first Bitcoin transactions from space, the first-ever satellite-to-satellite transmissions, and enable students to communicate directly with the school’s ground station.

NATIONAL HISTORY DAY

National History Day (NHD) is a research project / history analysis assignment (s) and competition. It encourages historical research on a topic of student's choice. Students will produce either an exhibit, documentary, website, performance or creative research-based paper on a thematic topic. Instead of a typical research paper, the project ends with a fun and creative way to express history!

The project usually ends with a regional competition at the end of February, beginning of March.
